Jackson Graves Foundation

Travelers on the Ironman Journey are selfish. It is almost a requirement. I don't want to be the "take, take, take" athlete. As such, I am using my training over the next 40 or so weeks to give back. I need your help to get to the finish. I am participating in the Janus Charity Challenge on my way IM Louisville 2010.

I am raising money to support the Jackson L. Graves Foundation. The JLG Foundation is a 501(c)3 charitable organization dedicated to improving care for infants in need of complex medical attention and to providing important support resources to families of those patients.

The Jackson L. Graves Foundation funds numerous projects. Currently, it is partnering with Arkansas Children's Hospital to provide:

Toys, books, clothes, toiletries and other items for infants and toddlers, as well as their families and a supply for the NICU itself.

Funding for innovative communication devices to cut down on noise in the unit

Funding of special equipment including baby scales and nursing recliners to promote the lactation support program

Purchase of privacy and storage equipment needed for long term NICU patients and families.

Creation of resource library and waiting room computer for parents and families of hospitalized infants.

The Jackson L. Graves Foundation has also pledged $125,000 to support a longer term project at Arkansas Children's Hospital in conjunction with the opening of a new wing of the hospital planned for 2012. This pledge will provide for a new private room, the first of its kind in the unit, and one of 18 private rooms that will help accomplish the Foundation’s goal of family-centered care for longer-term stays in the NICU. This pledge will also fund a new sibling play area adjacent to the family waiting room so that siblings of NICU patients will have a safe, appropriate environment when visiting.
